Nairobi has sadly become a concrete jungle with very little to say you're in Africa. Shade used to be provided by massive looming trees with beautiful canopies but now it's the high-rise flats that give shade while overburdening the archaic infra-structure of Nairobi.
Nairobi is no longer the 'Green City in the Sun' so Doc created his piece of heaven in Narentoi Conservancy, deep in Masai country overlooking the city he escaped but with Nairobi National park in between.
Doc's Eco Camp is surrounded by wildlife and game . The camp has been carefully crafted into a sustainable, eco-friendly camp specifically with overland travellers in mind. Construction has been done using local and regional materials keeping the use of concrete and steel to a minumum. For example. we used Mazeras stone from the coast and gum poles from Vihinga. Water is from the local community borehole and power is 80% solar. There is an aggressive recycling program in place as well as water management systems that recirculate grey water for watering, timed showers and handbasins directing water to plant beds.
Doc is presently designing his permaculture garden to supply the eco-camp kitchen so watch this space.

Whether you are a nature enthusiast, a wildlife lover, or simply seeking a tranquil retreat in the heart of Nairobi, Eco Camp offers a unique and eco-conscious accommodation option. Immerse yourself in the beauty of Kenya’s wildlife, support local communities, and experience sustainable living at Eco Camp. Book your stay today and be a part of the journey towards a greener, more sustainable future.
